Many heroines such as Namitha, Kanniha, Andritha Rai, Navya Nair, Parvathy Menon, Pooja Gandhi and Jennifer Kotwal have earned name and fame in Sandalwood. Now, Pune’s Dimpal Chopada, is all set to make her debut in Sandalwood with the film Sihi Muthu.

A heroine driven film ‘Sihi Muthu’ (meaning Sweet Kiss) by ace cameraman of Kannada cinema Mr Ashok Cashyap debut direction in the banner of Persona communications went on the floors recently. His wife Rekha Rani has penned the story, screenplay and dialogues for this film. Premkumar, Dhyan, Pooja (Dimple Chopda), Komalkumar have been selected for the lead roles. Superstar Shivarajkumar and a Mumbai actor are likely to be part of the cast says Cashyap speaking to media persons at Green House restaurant in Bangalore on Friday evening.

Ashok Kashyap on a detour

MANY producers say heroine-centric films do not fare well at the box office.

However, cinematographer-cum-director Ashok Kashyap is treading the tough road. His film Sihi Muthu focuses on the heroine and not the hero, like most other movies. It is a story about how a beautiful girl from Malnad comes to Bangalore and falls in love.

“I appreciate the simplicity of Prema and Dhyan, who have agreed to act in this film despite the fact that the main focus will be on the heroine. Both of them are not like the other heroes,” says Ashok Kashyap.

Om Shanti Om-like sequence A number of Bollywood artistes took part in a song sequence of the film Om Shanti Om. Ashok Kashyap also wanted a similar sequence.

“Why not? I wanted to introduce such a sequence in this film, but in vain. I approached Ganesh and requested him to act, but he told me that he was not interested in such song sequences. I also approached Shivarajkumar but he is yet to respond,” says Kashyap.

Dialogues With this film, Kashyap and his wife Rekha Rani, who wrote the script for Sihi Muthu, have decided to let the artistes write their own dialogues. If everything goes as expected, Kashyap will be the first director to introduce such a trend in the Kannada film industry. Similar trend runs in Tollywood.

“Our objective is to involve the artistes in writing their own dialogues. It not only gives them the freedom to improvise on dialogues but also makes them feel that the film belongs to them,” says Rekha Rani.

A happy Dhyan Namma Preethiya Hudugi fame Dhyan alias Sameer is a lucky artiste. Though he is an outsider, there is no dearth of offers from Sandalwood for him.

His films Neene Neene and O Manase are slated for release shortly. He is one of the heroes in Sihi Muthu.

The other hero is Prem, and Komal plays an important role too. “I don’t have an issue in acting in heroine-centric films. I am very happy with this offer,” says Dhyan. Source: newindpress
