D-Link India opens new R&D center at Bangalore

D-Link India announced the inauguration of new R&D center at Electronic City, Bangalore on Dec. 1, 2007. The new R&D center is spread over an area of 8,077 square metres and can seat more than 500 employees.

The new centre will drive the company`s R&D initiatives in India by focusing on converged IP Solutions, business routers & gateways and wireless technology products for the Indian and global markets.

On the occasion, K R Naik, executive chairman of the company said, “D-Link India is among the very few Indian IT Companies involved in designing and developing its own products besides manufacturing, marketing, distributing and supporting its products. We are very proud that our investments in product development are bearing fruit and we are looking at achieving greater profitability and returns on the commercial success from our R&D center developed products.“

Jangoo Dalai, managing director & CEO of the company, said, “Our new R&D centre should further augment our product offerings to the Indian & global market. By closely studying the evolving needs of the market, we would then be able to innovate new products as well as strengthen our portfolio of products aimed at this segment. Our accelerated investments in R&D are testament to our continued commitment to be a leading technology innovator in the Indian market.“

The D-Link R&D centers in Bangalore and Goa are known for successful products in networking, VoIP, and convergence products. The centres focus on system design, hardware/ software design & development as well as product tests and validation. The centres also excel in developing protocol stacks and libraries that go into these products.

The company`s R&D center has contributed to several successful products, which have found acceptance in markets across USA, South America, Middle East, South East Asia and India. The center is primarily engaged in R&D across routers, IP-PBX, IP phones, gateways and broadband modems.

Shares of the company gained Rs 1.45, or 1.58%, to settle at Rs 93.4. The total volume of shares traded was 38,884 at the BSE. (Monday) Source: myiris
